This book not only presents the life and work of the Marshal, but also unmasks the mythology that surrounds him to this day. A thorough analysis of the years 1926-1939 shows the duality of Pilsudski's policy: on the one hand, the triumph of independence, on the other - growing authoritarian tendencies. Was Pilsudski really a great leader, or rather a manipulator who did not hesitate to break democratic rules? The author discovers unknown aspects of his personality, showing the brutality, egocentrism and lack of respect for democracy that shaped the Sanation government.
