The articles included in this collection were published by the author from 1994 to 2019 in different countries and for the first time are collected under one cover in Russian. They are devoted to little-studied issues of the history of Jews in Belarus before and after the Holocaust: the Soviet school in Yiddish; Jews in agriculture, under the New Economic Policy; participation of Jews in the legal system and law enforcement agencies; return of property and homes to Jews who returned from evacuation, partisan detachments and the Red Army; the role of Jews in the economic, financial, political and cultural life of the republic; Belarusian leadership and the emergence of the State of Israel; "The doctors' case"; the work of Jews is censored. The collection also includes reviews and interviews of the author, essays on the history of the Jewish family. The material for the long-term research of L. Smilovidsky was mainly archival documents supplemented by information from scientific and popular publications, statistical collections and periodicals.
