This edition is based on the course of lectures delivered by the author at the Moscow State University and the Moscow State Linguistic University. The textbook dwells on the main areas of applied linguistics, including well-established classical disciplines (computational linguistics, machine translation, information retrieval systems, lexicography, science of terminology, language teaching methodology, translation theory, etc.) and new disciplines (frame linguistics, political linguistics, linguistic aspects of the neuro-linguistic programming, etc.).
