“Creation is an ongoing process. What is being created now is always a continuation of what was created before. Despite political, ideological and aesthetic changes, there is a certain invisible thread that continues not only structural but also emotional forms of creation. What do we recognize in our folk music? A certain arrangement of figures, like patterns on fabric, language structures, the subtlety of semantic nuances, expressiveness of articulation, a certain timbre, sound color, aesthetics, ethos – the often mentioned nostalgia characteristic of Lithuanians. Thus, by discovering what excites and influences us from the past, we can more easily understand in which direction we should go and what, continuing this never-ending creative process, we will leave in it.”
