After the war, Stanislav Aseyev remained in the occupied territory of Donbass and wrote articles for the Ukrainian media, where he tried to emotionally comprehend and rationally understand what was happening in the minds of his neighbors and friends under the pressure of propaganda and poverty. There is little politics in his texts - more reflections of a well-educated man on the darkness of war and changes in the human psyche, which inevitably occur in such circumstances. It is difficult to admit, but there are still no answers to a large number of questions raised in 2015-2017.
In May 2017, the author was detained by militants of the so-called "MGB DNR" and imprisoned in Donetsk. Aseyev was released at the end of 2019 as part of a large-scale exchange of prisoners.
In 2021, Stanislav Aseyev received the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in the category "Journalism, Journalism" for his book of essays "In Isolation".
