The paper focuses on the period of the reign of King Stefan Uros II Milutin (1282–1321) in the Krusevac region, both through a review and analysis of available written historical sources that speak of the presence of this ruler in the given area, as well as archaeological material dating back to the second half of the 13th and the first decade of the 14th century. Two tombstone inscriptions, discovered in the Podjastrebac village of Zdravinje and Krusevac, which are chronologically linked to the period of Milutin's reign, will also be discussed. In addition to the above, attention will also be paid to folk tradition, i.e. local legend that presents King Milutin as the founder of the church of St. John the Forerunner in Orasje near Varvarin.
