Historiography devoted to historians initially represented a review of factual material, and the works were biochronicles. Gradually, scientific analysis of the historian's activities began to prevail in these works, and such works became part of historical science, which explained how the historian's personality influenced scientific positions and conclusions about the national past. These works also provide an opportunity to more fully and deeply understand the connection between scientific historical ideas and the social life of Russia at the time when the historian's activities took place.
