This crucial stage of religious state policy is discussed in the treatise History of State Policy in USSR and Russia towards Religious Organizations in 1985-1999 issued by OLMA Media Group on request of the Contemporary History Fund. The treatise from the series History of Contemporary Russia offers an integral analysis of main trends of development and legal regulation in religious policy in the USSR, the RSFSR, and the Russian Federation. The authors investigate theoretical basis of the Soviet pattern of relations between state and religion, which were shaped on the basis of secular state; they also analyze the aftermath of implementing a policy with a biased atheist worldview and research the development of the attitude of the Soviet and Russian authorities to the «religious issue» in the period in question.
