In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced to the world the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" initiatives. This was a proposal for the development of transport infrastructure, both land and sea routes, which was supposed to promote the development of trade in general and lead to economic prosperity for many states. The countries of Central Asia were among the first to advocate the joint development of the Belt and Road. Over the past 10 years, many projects in the energy, transport, agricultural, scientific and other sectors have been implemented in the countries of the region together with China. The Belt and Road has become a platform for joint development not only on a purely economic level, but also on a cultural one. Thousands of young people from Central Asia received education at Chinese universities, and cultural exchange developed.
