The book presents retrospective review of researches of historical memorials that for different reasons got under water (starting from first decrees by Peter I concerning preservation of rarities found under water (XVIII century) until the 1990s when finished the fourth stage of development of underwater archeology in Russia). The book is based on personal archive of the author (interviews, unpublished materials, etc.), scientific returns of expeditions and numerous publications from various periodicals.
