The second book of the project “History of Kiev” is called “Kiev Lithuanian-Polish”. She talks about the least known inexperienced reader period of the history of Ukraine, when a significant part of our lands was part of the first Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and then Poland. The author explains in detail, using historical materials, why Russian and then Soviet historiography was silent about the events of that time and about people who lived in that era. At the same time, Viktor Kirkevich emphasizes that not only weakened and lost statehood after the Mongol invasion of the Tatars then needed a strong defender, which became the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the XIV century, but the principality itself benefited from this association, since its elite Russian culture, writing, and Orthodoxy influenced. And of course, the reader will have undoubted interest in a detailed and at the same time fascinating story about the life of Kiev and its inhabitants in this little-studied period.
