"Gudiya" is an old traditional name of Belarus in Lithuanian, rooted in the XVIIth century, and until 2007 it was official. So far, no Lithuanian historian has published a detailed synthesis of Gudija's history. There are not even translations from foreign languages. This happened despite the fact that since the XIIIth century, the ancestors of today's Lithuanians and Guds have lived for hundreds of years in a common state - the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. For the first time in history, the two nations were separated from each other only between World War I and World War II. For the second time, political exclusion occurred after the 1990s and continues to this day. From this perspective, no other neighboring nation - Latvians, Poles or Russians - had such a long common history with Lithuanians.
