The book deals with the fate of the soviet historical science of the second half of the XXth century. The author acts as a witness and active participant of “the battles for history” which led to elimination of scientific schools. The book revives a drama of ideas that was also the drama of people. A story about development of Russian historical views has not been written yet and A.Gurevich’s book may be the only live evidence of this history.
