The monograph explores the historical novel of the United States of the XXth century from the point of view of the principles of reconstructing the historical past, the correlation of fact and fiction, fantasy and document, the originality of the principles of character construction in the historical novel, the specificity of its composition, plot and chronotope; traces the intra-genre evolution inherent in the historical novel of the United States in the twentieth century.
