A collection of articles dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Historical Faculty of St.Petersburg University traces the history of development of one of the oldest disciplines at the first Russian University. Apart from a general sketch on the existing faculties which opens the book each department is described by a separate article. The 70th faculty’s anniversary is a good reason to reconsider the history and tendencies of development of historical science at the University as well as to describe modern scientific researches and history teaching.
