The reprint edition, first published in 1881, includes essays on the history of the Solovetsky Monastery from antiquity to 1870s as well as descriptions of its shrines, places of interest and the nature of the Solovki Archipelago. It is supplemented with the biography of Archimandrite Meletios - Father Superior of the Solovetsky Monastery whose works are included in the edition.
