Prof. Petur Mutafchiev was one of the most prominent Bulgarian historians from the first half of the 20th century. His major research interests were in the areas of the Bulgarian medieval history as along with that he suggests a broad view in the past of the Balkans and Europe. Petur Mutavchies was one of few if not the only one Bulgarian scholar who presents complete philosophical concept about the Bulgarian national history. Mutavchiev was also a social and spiritual leader with a great authority and influence during the dramatic period between the two world wars.
