The book takes the reader back to August, 1998 – the time of the default and governmental crisis in Russia. At the background of those events the author tells the story about a time-machine designed by a skilled craftsman from Siberia. The presidential team were rejoicing at the idea that they would be able to go back to the year 1996 and correct their political mistakes. But instead of going back to the past they found themselves in the year 2000.
