“Since many years the home icons excite in me the curiosity and inspiration with their variety and grace. I see them as a symbol of home peace and comfort. I always see them not just as Orthodox religious works but also as artworks where the strong, indomitable Bulgarian spirit which survived the twists of the centuries is. It is like the doors of home iconostasis symbolize the doors to Heaven, to this other world where people prays goes to. It is like the home icon is a shortcut, a window to God and the saints are the mediators between the Heaven and Earth. Every home have its own mediator, its patron whom the most intimate and honest prays are sent to. And while watching these orthodox artworks I question myself. Which occasions these icons were witnesses of? And if they could speak, we would certainly know the real history of the Bulgarian Orthodox believe. These home keepers are the Bulgarian memory, a part of the Bulgarian roots. That is why their preservation is important.” – the author. The present album contains high quality photos of home icons.
