The book, written in the documentary form, tells about the origin, development and flourishing of cooperative labor in South-Western Siberia, mainly Altai, from the end of the XIXth century till 1928. The principal part of the book is dedicated to the origin of credit, loan-saving, butter-making and cheese-making corporations. Special attention is paid to the theory of cooperation. The publication, based on rich archival documentary and photomaterial, is addressed to a wide range of readers.
