Miniature cartographic models have an important place in the history of world geography. Reports and information about Georgia are extremely valuable. It can be said that the best cartographic samples, depicting Georgia, have been preserved in the form of such maps. This book collects and discusses in detail more than one hundred European miniature maps created in the years 1548-1801. This unique and rare material is a clear demonstration of how great and growing the European community's interest in Georgia was during the past centuries. Moreover, the presented cartographic material confirms that from the side of European geographers, cartographers and travelers, Georgia was perceived as an organic part of the European continent in many cases. Therefore, it is highly timely and at the same time symbolic to publish the book at a given moment when the country is taking important steps on the way to join the European Union.
