The phenomenon of nature-based education, the demand for its ideas in the context of modern civilizational challenges and focus on the co-evolutionary development of nature and society are updated. The determinants of the genesis of the theoretical foundations of nature-based education in the pedagogical thought of Belarus are determined, starting from its origin on Belarusian lands and ending with the present time. Attention is focused on ethnopsychological, natural-geographical and geopolitical factors that are characterized by relative stability and immutability, and also correlate with the internal essence of the pedagogical phenomenon under study.
