Book deals with the current moment of urban gardening in Zagreb and brings together works written by scientists and socially-ecologically engaged practitioners. Urban gardening is not just a local Zagreb theme but a topic of many cities in Croatia, but also wider. In this book we bring concrete examples of urban gardening and distribution of food from Varazdin, Rijeka, Maribor, Havana and elsewhere. Urban gardening is part of a global movement that affirms the cultivation of food in cities, the building of local communities, the strengthening of the role of civil scene and civic participation in decision-making processes, sustainable public space management and an exchange-based and solidarity-based economy, and care for the environment and natural resources .
