The Orel Theater is one of the oldest in Russia. Its founder is the serf theater of Count Kamensky, created in the XIXth century. The events that took place on the stage and behind the scenes served as the basis for the works of a number of famous Russian writers, especially A.I. Herzen and N.S. Leskov.
