The Transfiguration Church on Nereditsa was erected in 1198 by the request of Iaroslav Vladimirovich, Novgorod Prince, near his palace on Gorodishche. Nereditsa murals were one of the eminent monuments of Ancient Russia. In 1941 the Church was destroyed by systematic bombardments. The monograph is richly illustrated and is devoted to the reconstruction of Nereditsa murals, based on historic, documentary and fine arts materials.
