The monograph reveals the peculiarities of the formal and semantic assimilation of French words in the Belarusian language system. The author analyzes the shifts in the semantic structure of such words and demonstrates their word-formation potential in modern Belarusian language. A lexical-semantic classification of the French borrowings is suggested.
