The book on the basis of previously published and new archival sources studies the history of formation and development of Chuvash Autonomy. The authors characterize the background, terms and factors of formation among the Chuvash the idea of autonomy; highlight the activity of national leaders on solving the formation of Chuvash Autonomy in 1920. Special attention is paid to the preparatory work done to transform the Chuvash Autonomous Region into Autonomous Republic in 1925. The edition also covers complicated problems of territorial structure of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and setting of its borders.
