The book consists of three major sections devoted to the following problems: reconstruction of archaic Mongol-language epic by the example of Medieval monuments as well as some motifs common to the Eastern epos and the Old-Russian literature of the latest period, Mongol-Tungus parallels in the field of riddles, analogs of the pieces of the Kalmyk genre of omens and weather sayings (shinzhy) popular in the epic forms of the Kalmyk folklore and oral folk arts of other Siberian peoples.
