The economic-political prerequisites and factors of the Fareastern region have been analysed. There have been summarized the theoretical problems of reforming the regions economy and economic policy regarding the region, from the standpoint of a modern conception of the put forward tasks and objectives, the methods of their realization and the achieved results. The analysis of the present economic situation has been given, and an extensive material on the economic situation in the key sectors of the regions economy has been presented. The conception of a long-term development of the Far East, based on the integration of the region into the APR economy, has been offered. The priorities of the structural policy and the principles of the long-term development of the region have been determined. There have been given the scenarios of possible development of the Russian Far East.
