Facial Cults Among Serbs and Macedonians: A Historical-Ethnographic Discussion Leontije Pavlovic (1914–1997), doctor of historical sciences, senior scientific adviser, theologian, art historian and publicist. His doctoral dissertation "Face cults among Serbs and Macedonians. Historical-ethnographic discussion" was published in 1965 by the Museum in Smederevo. Over time, this unique interdisciplinary study became indispensable and often used in the works of historians, art historians, ethnologists and other cultural scholars. Since its publication until today, a large number of new cults have been established and several canonizations have been made by the Serbian Orthodox Church. It should also be borne in mind that social circumstances have changed significantly in relation to the cult and its confession. A large number of studies and contributions were also written that brought new knowledge and interpretations related to old and newly established cults.
