The monograph presents a complex approach to the cognitive metaphor as a linguocultural phenomenon which includes its ontological status and its evolutionary dynamics. The book introduces a diachronic research procedure which allows one to isolate target contexts from a large textual material and to assess the metaphor evolution from the perspective of various parameters that reveal unique cultural properties of the metaphorized concept.
