The essays were written over many years by a prominent Russian mineralogist, experienced organizer and talented, highly original historian of science Academician of RAS Nikolai Pavlovich Yushkin (1936-2012). They include scientific biographies, results of special archive researches, memoirs and his contemplations on lives and work of many people.
