The study is about a rebel force set up in 1868 to incite an all-Bulgarian uprising against Ottoman Turkish rule. After being formed and trained in Romania, the detachment crossed the Danube River and marched into the Bulgarian lands. It succeeded in shaking the people up and preparing them for the seed of revolution. The gunshots startled not only the Ottoman Empire; Europe began to talk about the Bulgarians.
