This is a biography of Nikola Vasiliadi, a 19th-century Bulgarian physician and philanthropist who worked for the promotion of technical education. Vasiliadi gave shelter to exiled Bulgarian revolutionaries in Bucharest and bought clothes and medicines for the Bulgarian volunteer troops during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. He was convinced that the Bulgarians' prosperity after their liberation from Ottoman Turkish rule depended on the development of technology and technical education. He donated resources for the establishment of a technical school in Gabrovo. The book was first published in 1942.
