The work by the Russian lawyer and historian of the law Ivan Sobestianskii (1856-1896) is dedicated to the analysis of different theories on human nature, everyday life, customs and traditions of the ancient Slavs. The first part covers the theories on the national characteristics of the ancient Slavs. The author examines ancient scientific works. The second part of the book is devoted to the study of theories about the peculiarities of the legal life of the ancient Slavs. The history of the primitive Slavic law, a number of works devoted to the study of ancient juridical monuments, including works of the first Slavic scholars of law are reviewed.
