The book is dedicated to the war of 1805 between Russia and Napoleonic France. The first part focuses on the causes of the war, political activities of Emperor Alexander I and defeat of the Austrian army during the Ulm Campaign. The second part describes the retreat of the Russian army under Kutuzov to Moravia and the first battles with Napoleon. The third part studies offensive operations of the allied troops, the Battle of Austerlitz and its consequences.
