Milko Valent, a novelist, poet, playwright, essayist and theatre critic, was born on 6 July 1948 in Zagreb. Two plays from the drama trilogy "Zero" (Gola Europa and Ground Zero Aleksandra) were awarded the third and first Marin Drzic awards in 2000 and 2002. For his contribution to poetry to that point, he was awarded the Olive Wreath in 2009. For his novel "Umjetne suze", as the best literary work published in 2013, he received the Vladimir Nazor Award in 2014. (With this novel, he was among the five finalists of the Tportal literary award for the best novel in 2013.) At the second Petrarca Fest competition for the best sonnet, he received the third prize in 2015 for the sonnet "Rock'n'roll".
