The project about Belarusian partisans was conceived several years ago to tell about their role and assistance in the liberation of Belarus, interaction with the Red Army. During the preparation of the book, a large complex of new documents was discovered. This includes previously unpublished coded telegrams, histories of partisan brigades, combat reports concerning the rail war on the eve of Operation Bagration. "Naturally, we used this array of documents as the basis for the book. In addition to the documents themselves, extensive popular science articles (presented in an easy form, but on a scientific basis) are published, telling about the situation on the eve of Operation Bagration, about the history of the partisan movement, about the restoration of post-war Minsk," said Svyatoslav Kulinok. "Operation Bagration is one of the key events not only related to the liberation of Belarus, but also to the entire history of the Great Patriotic War. This operation brought Victory closer, demonstrated the cohesion and unity of the Soviet people, the interaction of the Red Army and the partisans. Belarus fully demonstrated the power of partisan resistance. From a purely military point of view, Operation Bagration was unique in its kind," emphasized the deputy director of the National Archives of Belarus.
