“Dacha” is a specific phenomenon of the Russian culture. Stiven Lovell made the first attempt of a thorough culturological and sociological analysis of this phenomenon, clearly demonstrated its dynamics and specificity. Basing on a wide range of sources, the author shows how the peculiarities of the Russian mentality and specific character of the Russian social and cultural structure were reflected in this particular phenomenon, its perception and assessment.
