Dr. Karol Franczak's book provides a critical analysis of one of the most influential contemporary modernization narratives – the discourse of creativity. The author examines how culture in Poland has been integrated into the logic of economic growth, innovation, and productivity, losing its autonomy and critical function in the process. Creativity and innovation – once the domain of artistic creation – have now become elements of political and economic projects, and simultaneously tools of domination. The starting point is the question of the meaning and function of the rhetoric of creativity in the context of Poland's economic and social transformations of the last fifteen years and the role of symbolic elites in its dissemination.
