The publication summarizes the data on the activities of the Council of Botanical Gardens and Arboretums of Belarus in the conservation, study and practical use of plant biodiversity. It is shown that the efficiency of ex situ plant conservation is one of the most important methods of biodiversity conservation among those available to botanical gardens and arboretums, and the prospects of a comprehensive study of the genetic diversity presented in botanical collections are proven. Data are provided on the composition of the collection funds of the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (CBG), the Botanical Garden of the UO BSAA, the Ecology Center of the UO "Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin", the Botanical Garden of the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. The role of the CBG as an initiator and active participant in the creation of the Council of Botanical Gardens and Arboretums at the republican level, as well as at the level of the CIS countries is shown. From 2013 to the present year, the Central Botanical Garden has acted as the lead institution and organizer of eight International Scientific Seminars with an expedition trip “Strategies and Methods of Botanical Gardens for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of the Biological Diversity of Natural Flora”
