The life of the Church was marked significantly by the event of the Second Vatican Council in the middle of the last century. By this, the Church wanted to renew itself, but also to meet the modern world in which it lives by proclaiming the gospel of Christ. Since its completion in 1965, the Council has been a guide to the Church in its efforts in all areas of its life - liturgy, theology, pastoral work, dialogue with other Christians, other religions, and indeed contemporary society as a whole.
