This monograph presents the results of interdisciplinary research on approaches to conflict and means for achieving social concord. The book is divided into four thematic sections: international relations, religion, society, and social thought. Within the first section, theories of war and peace in the early Soviet period and ideological campaigns in the Soviet press are discussed. In the second, confessional conflicts, concepts of religious harmony, and sobornost’ are analysed. Social issues are discussed in terms of relations between peasants and landowners in the reign of Alexander I and revolutionary martyrdom in 1905.
