The events in the second novel by Alexei Gorbunov again take place in an urban environment. True, this time we see not a clearly named Minsk, but some abstract city that can be located anywhere. The main character is student Ava, a well-read and vulnerable girl, who suffers from a toxic relationship with her boyfriend Ignat, who dreams of becoming a champion in martial arts and does everything possible to achieve this goal. But does the end justify the means? Is it possible to make your way to what you want without taking into account the rights of other people? And what will this lead to? The feelings of Ava and Ignat are not the only plotline in the book. In parallel, the relationship between artist Mikhail Bobruisky and journalist Artur Kurbanov with their women is developing. In the book everything is like in life; there are no proven paths to happiness, both professional and personal. The heroes wander, search and sometimes despair. However, include “City. Young woman. Staffage” cannot be added to the romance novel genre. In the book, in approximately the same proportion, you can find features of an action film and a detective story, a psychological novel and philosophical prose. However, this, at first glance, unexpected genre cocktail does not deprive the work of the necessary dynamism. The author again demonstrates attention to supporting characters, a sense of style, precision of language and richness of dialogue.
