The author Evgenii Dainov, who is a political scientist, says the book is his personal account of the events in Bulgaria from the winter of 1997 until the spring of 2017. The period began with the demise of the last remnants of communism and the general conviction that the Bulgarian people were, at last, "on the sunny side of the street", as Louis Armstrong sings in his great song. Dainov provides a different perspective on the events which have shaped Bulgaria's recent history. He sheds light on interesting and less known facts, presenting them from the first-person-singular point of view.
