The book consists of three parts. The first one presents the history of the Jewish people since the ancient (biblical) times till the end of Persian domination (332 BC). The second part is devoted to the ancient and early medieval history of the Jews in the East, that is from the beginning of Greek domination in Judea till the decline of Babylon (332 BC - 1040 AD). The final chapter of the title embraces the medieval and recent history of the Jews in Europe till the XIXth century inclusive.
