Even they look biological constants, the bodies actually are hysterical, culturally situated and mediated. That is why the questions about body and fleshiness, about representations and regimes of fleshiness during socialism are legitimate. Which are the interlacements and the relationships between the social and the fleshiness, how does the symbolic order transport into somatic one? The authors in this volume approach to this topic by various aspects of the bio-political imaginary: from the scientific theorizations to and the resulting medical and educational practices, then to the juridical and institutional discourse about the health and the reproduction, to the efforts for modeling of consumption and finally to metamorphosis of fleshiness in the memorial background of the times of socialism. In its aggregation, the studies demonstrate that the body as a storage of reasons has no immediate political belonging and by this reason it can care effective political and ideological messages.
