The book is the first monographic treatise on the content of teaching at the Prague medical faculty in the Baroque period; the title refers to two important Czech professors of medicine of the time. The interpretation is chronologically framed by the restoration of the medical faculty after the Battle of White Mountain and the beginning of the reign of Empress Maria Theresa (1740). The work rehabilitates the Baroque period, traditionally interpreted as the "Dark Ages", by showing how medical scholarship of the period developed and flourished in Prague in an original way.
