The architectural appearance of Berlin was formed under the influence of a combination of factors that Philip Oswalt brings together with the term "automatic urbanism". The city has captured the styles, ideologies, political systems and tragedies of the last century - and clothed them in architectural form. And today, 20th century Berlin is becoming an inspiration for new forms in architecture and urban planning.
