The monograph summarizes and updates the theoretical and methodological foundations for ensuring the balance of the regional economic space along the "city-village" line. The author's methodological approach to assessing the balance is proposed and tested, and the problems of ensuring it in the subjects of the European North of Russia are revealed. A mechanism for increasing the balance of the economic space along the "city-village" line is developed and scientifically substantiated, and within its framework, strategic directions for the development of rural areas are proposed, as well as tools for strengthening the connectivity of urban and rural areas.
